Year-Round Care
Lawn care in the Shea Station Homeowners Station is professionally maintained by Landscape Services Group (LSG). Services include mowing, fertilizing, weed control, shrub & tree trimming, leaf clean-up, and mulching. In addition, every home has an installed irrigation system, and the maintenance of the system is the responsibility of LSG.
GENERAL TIMING OF SERVICES
JANUARY
Mulching of shrubbery beds
MARCH
Weed control application to mitigate summer weeds. Spot treatment of weeds will be done as necessary throughout the growing season.
LATE APRIL / EARLY MAY
Dependent on weather conditions, the start of the mowing season will typically be late April to early May. Current days of mowing are on Mondays and Tuesdays, unless otherwise communicated. Two full days are required to complete mowing of lawns throughout the neighborhood.
The irrigation system typically is turned on for the season around May. General watering days are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and the system is programmed to come on during the late evenings on these days. The last home on a particular control panel (there are over 10) could come on as late as the morning of the next day (preferably before sunrise). Adjustments to the schedule will sometimes be necessary due to weather conditions which would also affect the mowing schedule. These two services go hand in hand.
LATE MAY / EARLY JUNE
The first of two lawn fertilizer applications to green-up the turf and strengthen roots.
LATE JULY / EARLY AUGUST
Second lawn fertilizer application
LATE FALL
Weed control application to mitigate winter weeds.
NOVEMBER
Depending on weather, the irrigation system is turned off and winterized (water lines blown out).
WINTER
General leaf blowing and debris clean-up.
NOTE: Shrub & tree trimming occurs throughout the growing season as needed. There’s no specific timeframe.
Furthermore, common areas such as the entrance from Winchester, the medians on S. Shea, and the two squares on S. Shea are currently maintained by LSG throughout the year. The master Porter Farms HOA and their designated agent, H.M. Heckle, are responsible for these common areas.
